Time Zone / Time Offset
« on: December 18, 2009, 03:20:37 AM »
After another member mentioned something yesterday, I noticed my own Time Setting (Time Offset) was off. I thought I corrected it, but then noticed the DAY was wrong. For me it is Dec 17, 2009 11:20 AM, but the date stamp will show Dec 18, 2009 11:20 AM. Even if I do Auto Detect this will be the result. If I try to adjust the Time Offset I can -23 hour, but not -24 hours. SS, I wonder if there is some other adjustments you can make as Admin?

I have set it to be local time (Singapore) and it is working all right for me.

There are other options such as Asia/Singapore. GMT (range of nos.) or UTC (range of nos.)  Changing the setting might not be as helpful as it will just affect the rest.  I will look see if there is some auto adjustment for the time zones instead.

Hmmm, I think most forums I belong to use either GMT or UTC - this gives the users the chance to adjust for their own time zones (Time zones around the world can be expressed as positive or negative offsets from UTC and GMT)

for reference - i posted this at 12/18/2009 8:34 am local time (PST) and the forum logged it as 12/19/2009 8:34 am

For comparison, I just checked my settings on DCPH.
My time offset shows as -16 (self adjusted when using autodetect). This results in the correct time for where I live. However I have no idea what they have their control settings at.

For those who have different time zone settings go to your own profile and enter into "Look & Layout" look for Time Offset and set it to auto detect  :smile3:
